The History of Equip Ethiopia

Several years ago, while teaching in the Eritrean Refugee Camps in Adi Harush, Northern Ethiopia, a group of Ethiopian Church Leaders asked for help in equipping their Church Leaders to better understand and communicate God's Word to their people.  After much prayer a plan was developed to help Pastors/Evangelists/Church Leaders equip their people to carry out the work God had called the Church to do in their communities/villages.   Practical methods of understand and communicating God's Word were created and worksheets in their languages were prepared for each student.

In January of 2014, the first trip was prayerfully implemented followed by trips throughout Ethiopia.  Each trip consists of multiple two-day training sessions open to all denominations.   In the last five years over 5,500 Pastors/Evangelists/Church Leaders have been from over 550 Churches representing 32 Evangelical Denominations.  The Lord has allowed us to be in 73 different villages through out Ethiopia.

While on this quest, we have discovered several important things.  As Ethiopia is rapidly moving from an oral to an information based culture, over 50% of the rural people do not know how to read making spiritual growth difficult.  God has provided an answer.   We purchase micro-chips with God's Word read aloud in their language that fit in many of the cell phones throughout Ethiopia.  They are distributed freely to those who have need.  Additionally, we are constantly looking at new and various technology to get God's Word in the hands of His Children.

Additionally, while not focusing exclusively on physical needs, we are now partnering with 8 Sudanese Churches in Gambela - far western Ethiopia - to help with food and clothing for 100 Orphans and children at risk.  These Sudanese have fled South Sudan and are the poorest of the poor in Ethiopia.  We are also in the process of partnering with these churches to provide water wells as an outreach to their communities.

Dr. Mark Redd Ministries is not affiliated with any agencies.  God provides funding for both the trips and projects through people such as yourself who understand the importance of equipping God's people to reach into their own communities, reaching-teaching-loving their people.   It is our belief that the greatest missionary is the local church teaching the Words of God in a practical and understandable way.

The quest continues.  Will you be part of it?
